The city of MOSCOW.
POKLONNAYA MOUNTAIN.
The memorial dedicated to the Second World War was opened to commemorate the 50 anniversary of the victory over Nazi envasion. This the complex of churches, museums, armor display, monuments and fountains.
THE MUSEUM OF THE DEFENSE OF MOSCOW.
The museum tells about the first Soviet triumph and the turning point in the Second World War. By the beginning of December some German formations were only about forty km north-west of the Kremlin when came the Soviet counter-offensive under General Zhukov and the Wehrmacht was driven back several hundred kilometers.
KREMLIN.
Kremlin is the heart of Russia.
THE ARMED FORCES MUSEUM.
The museum was opened in 1965 and traces the history and development of the Soviet Army, Navy and Air Force since the Revolution of 1917. The 25 halls contain photographs, documents, personal effects, weapons, models, and an exhibition of oil paintings. Among the items on display are the captured German standards paraded in Red Square in 1945. Outside is a large collection of Soviet tanks, artillery pieces, aircrafts.

HERMITAGE.
(One can not visit Saint-Petersburg without visiting Hermitage)
The setting is magnificent and lavish; malachite, jasper, agate and marble provide a fine backdrop to the treasures exhibited in the museum. The highlights of the museum are Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Titian, Peter Paul Rubens, Rembrandt canvases. The Spanish art collection is second only to the holdings of Madrid's Prado - works by El Greco, Velazquez, Zurbaran and Goya. French art is very strongly represented by Poussin, Watteau and Houdin.
PETER AND PAUL FORTRESS.
The site where the foundations for this city were first laid, built on an island in the River Neva. The tall guilded spire of the cathedral, resting place of the Tzars since Peter the Great, dominates the whole area.
ST. ISAAC'S CATHEDRAL.
The cathedral is another distinctive feature of St. Petersburg's skyline, with its vast gold cupola surrounded by statues of angels. Converted from a Cathedral to a museum in 1931. Tourists can climb to the balcony of the dome for the best panoramic view of St. Petersburg.
THE MUSEUM OF THE DEFENSE OF LENINGRAD**.
German tanks made rapid progress through the Baltic republics and by early September 1941 Leningrad was sealed off from the Soviet "mainland". Hitler decided not to take the city by storm but to starve it into submission, and the result of the "900 Days" was the death of nearly 600000 Leningraders. The Museum of the Defense of Leningrad tells about one of greatest tragedies of the War.
THE MUSEUM OF "THE ROAD OF LIFE"
It was due to the "Road of Life" across frozen Lake Ladoga that Leningrad survived in the terrible winter of 1941-42. The exposition of the museum tells about the heroism of the Russian soldiers supplying the seiged city with food and armor and evacuating non-combatants.
THE ARTILLERY MUSEUM.
It is now the main army museum in Saint-Petersburg; the emphasis is on the artillery, engineer, and signals branches of the service. There is a special attention being given to the Second World War. The whole collection includes 600 artillery pieces, including the most modern.
THE NAVAL MUSEUM.
The history of the museum can be traced back to 1709. A wealth of models, flags, paintings, photographs, and other items are on display. Special attention is devoted to the 1917 Revolution and to the Second World War.
The city of KURSK.
THE MILITARY HISTORIC MUSEUM.
The battle near Kursk is known as the biggest tank battle in the history of mankind. The Nazi armies could not recover after this defeat. The museum tells about the battle which took place in July and August of 1943.
The city of VOLGOGRAD.
THE MONUMENT TO THE HEROES OF THE BATTLE OF STALINGRAD ON MAMAEV HILL.
It was on October 15, 1967 this monument was opened. It is considered to be one of the masterpieces of the world art dedicated to the Second World War. The basement of the composition is the Mamaev Hill which became a common grave for a lot of Russian soldiers.
THE STATE MUSEUM-PANORAMA "STALINGRAD BATTLE".
The museum is included in the world catalogue of museums. It has a huge panorama of the Stalingrad battle, the ruin of the steam mill, and the famous Pavlov house. Along the perimeter of the museum one can see samples of the military armor such as aircrafts, tanks, legendary "katyshi", cannons.
